  • WOW! - a great turnout with over 108 classmates and 54 guests participating in our 3 day event to celebrate 50 years from our graduation from HHS and to reunite, share stories and get reacquainted . . for some classmates, this was their first HHS class reunion! It was such a pleasure to see the camaraderie and good feelings . . from the kick off Friday afternoon in the suite followed by the reception Friday evening (THANK YOU to the "HHS59 Angels"!!), the tour of Historic Philadelphia, the dinner Saturday evening (Thank you to Phil Campbell and Rita Viscidi Nastri for a great job as MC's)and the Sunday morning breakfast. A special thank you to Ken Curtis for backing me up on the financial commitments to the hotel and the many hours spent pulling this together (and the WEB site and email distribution), to Bobbie Potter Thomas for all her work helping with the hotel arrangements and decorations, to Fran Deane DiMarco for the table decorations and hosting of the garden tour at Chanticleer, to Joe Wood for the Historic Tour of Philadelphia arrangements, and to Bruce and Stella Wainer for tracking down the lost classmates . . and to the others that contributed their time and talents to make this a very successful class reunion. It was great to see everyone again . . and to come out ahead financially and be able to donate $1,500 in the name of the HHS Class of 1959 to the Stephen M. Yuenger Memorial Fund for two scholarships each year to HHS seniors. Hope to see you in Feb. 2012 at our "Winter Escape" reunion in a warm climate . . we will let you know during 2010 what options we have come up with!! Ken Curtis (our new "class president") has agreed to take over the stewardship of the HHS59 reunions and the bank account . . I will be helping out Ken and the others going forward.

Warmest Regards > > Will Workman

  • Hi Gang, The memories linger on! It was a wonderful event! I was a little fearful about coming, but all my fears were gone as soon as we arrived. Many thanks to all of you who made it a point to come ove and talk to my husband Bob and I. Both of us can't get around too well and so I did not get to see as many. (polio legs don't allow me to stand or walk for long)

Everyone made Bob feel right at home and so many of you came over to see him and tell him that we were in your prayers during his long ordeal with the MRSA infection and his spine which collapsed. It was great for him.

My only regret is that we did not stay overnight. Bob could not stay much longer and our visit seemed all too short. This was the best reunion by far. I loved showing the bag of goodies to my kids and grandkids.

    Thanks again.

  • I think I am the last one to post since I just got home. What more can I say that hasn't already been said so well. Just want to add another thanks to all those who worked so hard to put together this fantastic weekend of fun, love and memories. I am sure there were a few glitches at some point, but I cannot imagine even one since it appeared a seamless transition from one event to the next--the sign of great planning. Will and committee, Congrats and thanks for a job well done. Classmates, Congrats on attending and enjoying. I have never seen so many people smiling at one time. There is so much more to say and I will save it for our next reunion. Love you all. Rita

  • I wish to thank Phil Campbell and Rita Nastri for emceeing so ably the Saturday Program. You met the challenge to keep the activities fun, interesting and still kept them all within a tight yet changing timeframe. I particular liked the way you made a respectful tribute to our deceased classmates. Our class’s recognition of Joe Schmuckler’s attendance and his influence on us in the classroom 50 years ago was well deserved.

  • My 1st reunion since our 5th, 45 years makes for lots of happenings and changes but it was great to recognize so many faces, talk and laugh with people I didn't know in the HS daze. Fantastic job, committee, angels and secret benefactors. Alot of work went into to the whole weekend and it showed. Thanks so much for everything. Chelly

  • What a wonderful event. My only regret was not spending more time with everyone I remet after all these years. Each person I talked to has matured for the better and become so much more interesting. The organizers did a fabulous job and I just wished for more time to visit so I am hoping some of you will visit out in Az. I have room and love company. Bring your bathing suits. Thanks Will, Phil, Steve, George, Rita, and on and on.... Suz

  • Cheers and applause to all who planned and organized the wonderful HHS 50th reunion. A dazzling and enormous undertaking, and as my grandchildren would say "awesome." Looks like we all cleaned up and grew up "good." My husband and I had a great time and are looking forward to the next event.

  • 50th Reunion was wonderful. My first. It was wonderful from Friday afternoon hospitality get- together through Sunday Brunch. It was Ellen's first ever reunion. She thought it would be a bore BUT SHE LOVED IT. Thanks for treating her so nice. And she loved Philadelphia. How about that?

P.S. Having a hard time convincing her that those were all lies you told about me.

Everyone looks fabulous. Hopefully, the next one I can talk to even more. Thanks to George I, Duke F and Ken M I even got to dance, making my night perfect. Thanks everyone. See you at the next reunion.

  • Haverford Hats off to the Reunion Committee! This was one of the best reunions that I have attended, and I have been to them all. It truly transcended time as conversations were held as if it was 1959! Even more amazing were those conversations held with those that you rarely spoke to when you were in high school. Warm feelings all around! Hope to see you at the next one!

  • What an awesome reunion! I loved every minute of it, and so did my husband. He had many interesting conversations with spouses and classmates while I was busy hugging and visiting. It was so good to have a list ahead of time of who would be there as there were certain special people I wanted to see, and it was so much easier to connect knowing they'd be there. I not only saw them but so many others, and I wish I could have talked to a whole lot more. The committee did an amazing job. Seems like you thought of everything. And Phil and Rita at the mike were wonderful. The tribute to our classmates who had passed away was so beautiful. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Oh, and I loved seeing Mr. Schmuckler. He's still great!

  • With much anticipation I walked into the hospitality suite on Friday afternoon to be greeted by the "workers" who organized this reunion. I knew that I was in a good place. As the weekend progressed, I reunited with some "old" friends, some classmates that I hardly knew in HHS, some classmates that I did not know in HHS and finally some spouses who ventured into "our den". It was such a wonderful, emotionally rich experience. To share life's stories and adventures with the "guys". To share some sorrow and joy with many of my female classmates. To share a dinner with two beautiful women, to be asked to dance with even more beautiful women, to be included by so many all in one weekend. It ended too soon, but I was running out of adrenaline. Hope our next one in 30 months is 4 days with lots of activities we can share.

  • I would like to thank "The Committee" and everyone who attended the reunion. It was an amazing week end of renewing friendships and of catching up with so many years of separation. It was so wonderful recognizing classmates and then realizing how little you have changed...a few years older but so what. The smiles, the friendliness, and the humor were still the same.
I, also, want to say a big "Thank You" for the very special gift bag that we all received. Whoever donated this was more than generous!
We West-Coasters will get busy looking into California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Nevada for February 2011? 2012?

  • A wonderful. wonderful week-end! Many thanks to all the committee and angels of the class. Truly, you went above and beyond in your generous gifts of time, talent and treasure. My only regret is not being able to greet every single classmate. There is always next time, and you can be sure that we will be there. A true sign of a successful reunion is that spouses enjoyed themselves as much as classmates. Mine certainly did! Thank you HHS Class of 1959. I am proud to be part of you.

  • This was my first re-union and I'm still kicking myself for not attend any of the others. I want to thank again the anonymous person who talked me in to coming; and they will know who they are.

It was great seeing old friends and making new ones. Everything and everybody was much more than I expected and can't wait for the next one. I've missed many, but if the good Lord is willing I won't miss anymore.

Kudos to all who helped putting this together....

  • All I can say is "What a wonderful Weekend"! The entire committee did a magnificent job of putting this event together and I want to thank them for their time and efforts. Everyone I talked to had a fantastic time. The Friday event was spirited and really allowed everyone to have that first meet and greet time. The trolley tour on Saturday was fun for all. The Saturday bash was the best ever. I am sorry I could not attend Sunday. Thanks again for putting this all together. By the way "You all look great".

  • When Will, Ken, Bruce and I met March of 2008 to chose a reunion site and attend a sampling with the Marriott we knew the food quality was going to be excellent, however, we could not predict how many classmates would attend and how chosing a Phila. site would be received. I have worked on every reunion since graduation and have to say this one was fantastic. It was so rewarding to see the comraderie with classmates, the hugs, back slaps and kisses exchanged. The reunion created another set of wonderful memories. Thanks to all who attended to make it a success. Special thanks goes to the spouses who were so patient. My gratitude to everyone who worked on and contributed to the 50 year reunion.

  • This was my first reunion I was able to attend and it was fantastic. It was so great to see so many alumni and talk to some I had never really known
My husband thoroughly enjoyed the evenings events.

Kudos to all the committee for putting together such a great event. The Trolley Tour was great and a lot of laughs. This was actually my first time even seeing the sites of Philadelphia and it was wonderful.

Hoping to attend the next reunion wherever it is held.

  • Thanks to all of you who worked so very hard to make our 50th reunion so memorable and wonderful. It was heartwarming to see those of you who were there. We missed those who did not make it, but you were with us in spirit.

My husband, who has attended some of our previous reunions, said he thoroughly enjoyed it and thinks we have a pretty terrific group of people.

We're hoping to be fortunate enough to see you all again, whenever and wherever the next one is.

  • I just wanted to extend my thanks to the spouses and partners of HHS59 classmates who attended the reunion. These thanks also extend to those spouses and partners who could not attend. In many cases our classmate’s attendance and wholehearted participation would not have been possible without your sacrifice and support. I furthermore hope that the feelings of fellowship and camaraderie shared by our classmates was also felt and extended to our attending non-classmates. We look forward to seeing our classmates and these adopted classmates at future reunions.

  • Hi everyone. It is now Thursday evening, the stockings are hung by chimney, the milk and cookies are ready for the big event starting tomorrow evening.

The Reunion Committee has worked long and hard to make a successful event you won't forget. We hope those who attend enjoy it. If you were not able to attend, we will be thinking of you and all our classmates. Feel free to add comments to this list.

After the reunion weekend, I will send out more information to everyone.

My best wishes for a long and happy life. Use your time to the fullest extent. I look forward to seeing everyone at the next reunion.
